The first day of ICC DIV-3, in Bermuda at Somerset CC was a bad day for Nepali Cricket Team and bad Night for Nepali Cricket Fans. As per the expectaion, Nepalese team couldn’t give their potential power. Winning the toss, Nepal captain Paras Khadka choosed to bowl first, and from the very beginning things happened against the Nepales team. Steven Taylor and Orlando Baker gave a solid start for their team and made an awesome partnership of 125 runs in 104 balls. Steven Taylor was unstoppable, during his batting people felt like West Indies Chris Gyale batting. Finally Sanjam Regmi got the victory over Taylor in 34.2 over, bt that was very late. At that mean time, he founded a strong base for USA team for the win. He was caught by Basant Regmi in the ball of Sanjam Regmi, with 12 sixes and 12 fours , 162 runs in just 102 ball and lead the score of USA to 234-3. After the wicket of Taylor, Nepales bowler started the domination on the pitch by taking regular wickets though a experience bowler like Sanjam, Shakti and Amrit didn’t gave their best.
Basanta Regmi took 2 wicket while Sanjam Remi, Shakti Gauchan and Amrit Bhattarai distributed a wicket each in their side.
Once the danger man Taylor was gone, it felt like, USA will not be able to post the target of 300+, bt the middle order batsman Timroy Allen did exceptionally well batting at the end, he scored 67 runs not out with 6 Sixes and 4 Fours and were able to post the big target for Nepal of 367.
Nepal started their batting inning by opening pair Anil Mandal and Subash Khakurel. But even in the batting, Nepal couldn’t make a good start. Anil Mandal was duck out, bold by Hutchinson. Nepalese team lost it’s first wicket in the last ball of second over while the score was Five. Secondly, Subash khakurel became the victim of Hutchinson and caught out by Taylor in the ball of Hutchinson again while the score of Nepal was only 29 in a big chase. Nepal lost its third wicke in form of vice-captain Gyanendra Malla 9(28), he was run out and the score of Nepal was just 56. I think run out of Gyanendra Malla was the turning point, and Nepalese spectator never felt Nepal’s win from that point of time. The fans were disappointed at the midnight, and slept after disappointing performance from Nepalese cricket team who were getting updates via facebook. Paras Khadka, was batting like a prince, and the main thing is no one gave him a best company to make the destiny possible. Binod Bhandari was bold out by Mc Garell 4(14) while the score of Nepal turn into 82-4. The numeric figure 82-4 in cricket at the time of chasing a target of 367, can never give a hope at all. But even , the falling of wicket, doesn’t stop even. Continiously Nepalese team lost its wicket. The main reason behind the loss is no good partnership among the Nepalese Batsman. Nepal lost its fifth wicket in the form of Pradeep Airee in 23.2 over while the score of Nepal turned into 106-5. After the failure of 70% major batsman, Parash Khadka and Sharad Vesawkar giving a great hope firing the ball all over the field. But the sad part, Paras Khadka was caught out by Taylor in the ball of Barrington Bartley. Paras tried his best bt it was late display and he made 73 runs in 64 balls with 9 Fours and 2 Sixes. Now, its time for the show of Vesawkar Batting, he also did his best. But taking the team to victory with the partnership among the tailender wasn’t possible though Basant Regmi failed as the 7 wicket for Nepal, he was caught out by Massiah in Muhammad Ghous ball and the score turned into 198-7. After the fall of Basanta regmi, Nepalese team made their desitiny to survive in the crease and make as many runs as possible to loose the match with low score. 8th wicket blow for Nepal was in the name Of Sharad Veasawkar who played excellently in such a hard situation and led the score of Nepal upto 228-8. He was bold by Muhammad Ghous in 42.5 over and he alloted 72 runs in 61 balls with 4 Fours and 6 Sixes. To take the score upto respectable position Shakti Gauchan also had his great role who fired US captain Massiah in the 49 th over and alloted 19 runs from that over with two big sixes and one four and lead the score of Nepal upto 270-8. Finally Nepal were all out in 49.5 over and were only able to allot 272 runs. Shakti Gauchan was the last man caught out by Baker in the ball of Mc Garell while he scored 39(47) with 2 Fours and 2 Sixes.
The diffrence between Nepal and USA was the 19 year old lad Steven Taylor who made 162 runs from 102 balls was the man of the match.
Nepal will play their second game with the second strongest opponent Uganda on Monday. This will be more decisive to say about the fortune of Nepali Cricket Team and its dream of playing ODI World Cup in 2015.
