Pepsi IPL - Match 24 DD v CSK

Chennai Super Kings won by 86 runs

Delhi Innings

That is all from us here. Join us for the match between Hyderabad and Punjab tomorrow. Until then, Bye Bye!
Presentation Ceremony:
Michael Hussey: ‘The best place for an opening position is in the sub-continent and I am enjoying myself. We are assessing the situation and we look to build partnerships. There are so many big hitters in the team and I was surprised that I got the award for the big hits. Albie and the other guys hit it 20-30 rows back and I just manage to clear the ropes.
Michael Hussey is the MoM for his unbeaten 65 off 50 balls.
MS Dhoni: ‘I thought it was not a 170 wicket. Michael Hussey batted well and the small outfield helped us in hitting big shots. We see who are the bowlers who are left to bowl and we look at which batsman can target which bowler. We have to get used to the pace of the wicket and it became slower. The Chennai wicket is hard to hit as it stops a lot. Chennai have not started well and it is important to make some gradual progress. We are continuing to make some changes in the team so that we can get the composition right. I was surprised by the amount of support we had at this venue. I think most of them do not understand Tamil here (When asked to do the Whistle Podu for the fans).’
Mahela Jayawardene: ‘We have a couple of days off and it gives the guys a couple of days to reflect what has gone wrong. I am very diplomatic and I will not lose my temper. The guys are working hard but nothing has gone right for us in this tournament. Everyone has to lift their game. If we had one or two games going our way, we could be in a good position.’
Mohit Sharma: ‘I am concentrating on the basics. I was just trying to bowl the right line and length. The wicket was a slow and low wicket. It was not an easy wicket for the batsman.’
Delhi got off to a horror start yet again as the top order collapsed. Mohit Sharma was the star with the ball as he snapped up the wickets of David Warner and Manprit Juneja in his first over. Mahela Jayawardene survived a close catch appeal off Morris but he departed to a poor umpiring decision in the same over. Wickets tumbled at regular intervals and none of the Delhi batsmen got going. Only Kedhar Jadhav played an innings of substance but it was a dominant performance by the Chennai bowlers. Delhi are in the bottom of the table and they will need to win 8 out of the remaining 10 games to have any chance for a place in the play-offs. Join us in a bit for the presentation.

Chennai Innings

A slip in place as Albie Morkel finally gets a bowl in this year’s tournament.
Out come the Delhi openers, David Warner and Virender Sehwag. Warner has been in India for close to three months now and he has not won a single match, both for Australia and Delhi. Can his and Delhi’s luck change today?
Murali Vijay looked good during his brief stay at the wicket but Chennai found the going tough in the first 10 overs as they reached 60/1. Raina and Michael Hussey opened up afterwards before Irfan Pathan snapped up Raina. MS Dhoni promoted himself up the order and he tore into the Delhi bowling. His 23 ball 44 gave Chennai much needed momentum. Hussey notched up his 8th fifty in this tournament as Chennai finished up on 169/4. Delhi have a tricky chase on their guards and it is upto the batsmen to come good.
Michael Hussey: ‘We have a good score but not a winning score. It is a score by which we cannot relax with. The outfield is very quick and Delhi have some good players. Dhoni is simply amazing.’
