Two Departmental Team Army And APF Ready For Final Clash.
Armed Police Force will fight in the final clash with Army after winning the second semi-final against Region No.3 Kathmandu. The game was pushed to 13 overs due to rain, while the first match was abandoned, and Army team was promoted to final because of better run rate in group stage, and unlucky Region No. 2 Birgunj suffered a lot, which was disqualified for playing in final.
The second semi-final was possible, where APF fully dominated and won the match in a huge margin of 83 runs. After winning the toss , Region No.3 elected to field first, and was success in the initial overs snatching the first four wicket very cheaply. But middle order batsman captain Paras Khadka and Sharad Vesawkar batted exceptionally well, and lead the team towards a big score of 143 run in just 13 overs. From APF batting side, Sharad quick fifty was the key factor in the game, where he scored 53 run not out in 21 balls with 4 fours and three sixes, while captain Paras played not out innings of 35 runs in 33 ball including 1 four and 3 sixes, Subash Khakurel contributed 20 runs in 19 balls before he was run out. Region No. 3 Kathmandu exceptionally bowled , where Sompal Thapa took two important wickets of Gyanendra Malla and Pradeep Airee, and Paresh lohani was hunt by Neeraj Adhikari.
144 was a peak target for Region No.3 to achieve in 13 overs, and were just able to made 60 runs in 13 over losing 4 wicket, and were defeated by huge margin of 83 runs. Suraj KC 16 (18), Bivatsu Thapa 14*(13) and Sujan Maharjan 11(22) contributed to their side, but that was not enough at all. While from the bowling side of APF, Shakti Gauchan , Yagaman Kumal and Bhuvan Karki shared a wicket each.
Tomorrow, Tribhuwan Army will clash with APF, as it is the fight between the two big departmental teams, as it is the clash of pride and prestige, which is definitely going to be interesting. And in the case if the match gets abandoned due to rain, then both team will be the winner of Pepsi Standard Chartered T20 National Cricket Tournament-2013.
